Bogus Cell Phone Text Messages


MCU has learned of a new email phishing scam.

This fraudulent attempt to capture card numbers is done with an automated text message referring to themselves as CO-OP Services Credit Union Customer Services Dept. from a four-digit phone number of 3693.

 

The text message indicates that your credit or debit card has unusual activity. In order to restore your account access, the message asks you to call 813.600.1551 and enter your 16-digit card number along with three additional pieces of personal information.

 

This is a fraudulent text message and do not respond. Stay safe and protect your identity with the following tips:

 

If you think you're a victim of a text message scam, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov, or call 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357).
